was graduated from the University of Alabama at Tuscaloosa in 1854;
studied law;
was admitted to the bar in 1855 and commenced practice in Talladega, Ala.;
served in the Confederate Army as major of the Tenth Regiment, Alabama Infantry, and subsequently became lieutenant colonel of the Thirtieth Regiment, Alabama Infantry;
member of the State house of representatives in 1871 and 1872;
elected as a Democrat to the Forty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1875-March 3, 1877);
was not a candidate for renomination in 1876;
continued the practice of law in Talladega, Ala., until his death on October 28, 1883;
interment in Oak Hill Cemetery, Talladega, Ala.
