JANKLOW, WILLIAM J., A Representative from South Dakota; born in Chicago, Cook County, Ill., September 13, 1939; B.S., University of South Dakota, Vermillion, S.Dak., 1964; LL.B., University of South Dakota, Vermillion, S.Dak., 1966; United States Marine Corps, 1955-1959; South Dakota state attorney general, 1974-1978; Governor of South Dakota, 1979-1987, 1994-2002; elected as a Republican to the One Hundred Eighth Congress and served until resignation on January 20, 2004 (January 3, 2003-January 20, 2004); died on January 12, 2012, in Sioux Falls, S.Dak.; interment at Black Hills National Cemetery, Sturgis, S.Dak.
