completed preparatory studies in Bellefonte, Centre County, Pa., and was graduated from Dickinson College, Carlisle, Pa.;
was admitted to the bar in 1814 and practiced his profession;
elected as a Democrat to the Twenty-fifth and Twenty-sixth Congresses and served from March 4, 1837, until his death, before the assembling of the Twenty-sixth Congress, in Bellefonte, Pa., on October 28, 1839;
interment in Union Cemetery, Bellefonte, Pa.
