was graduated from the University of Pennsylvania at Philadelphia in 1794;
was admitted to the bar in 1795 and commenced practice in Philadelphia;
elected as a Republican to the Eighth, Ninth, and Tenth Congresses (March 4, 1803-March 3, 1809);
was commissioned as colonel of militia in Delaware County, Pa.;
engaged in the practice of law until his death near Chester, Pa., July 20, 1816.
