elected as a Republican to the Eleventh, Twelfth, and Thirteenth Congresses (March 4, 1809-March 3, 1815);
engaged in agricultural pursuits;
elected to the Twentieth Congress and reelected as a Jacksonian to the Twenty-first Congress (March 4, 1827-March 3, 1831);
elected to the Twenty-fourth Congress (March 4, 1835-March 3, 1837);
died at his residence, ``Uppowac,'' King William County, Va., November 15, 1838;
interment in the family burying ground, Rumford, Va.
